Salt and Stitch: A 21-Tent Boutique Camp Near Dhordo Invites Winter Travellers From Europe to Pair the White Rann With Kutch’s Craft Villages

KUTCH, Gujarat, India, 3 November 2026. As northern Europe settles into its darkest months, the Great Rann of Kutch in western India enters its finest season. From November to February, the seasonal salt marsh near the village of Dhordo dries into a white plain under clear, mild skies. Namak Resort, a boutique camp of 21 tents on the Khavda–Dhordo Road, welcomes travellers for the 2026–27 winter season, with a suggestion for visitors coming from further afield: give the salt and the surrounding craft villages equal time.

The White Rann is at its most striking at sunrise, at sunset and on full-moon nights, which leaves the middle of the day free. Within a short drive of Dhordo are the Banni villages, among them Hodka, known for embroidery and leatherwork, and Nirona, where families still practise Rogan painting and lacquer craft. Dhordo itself was named one of the Best Tourism Villages by UN Tourism in 2023.

“Guests who travel a long way to see the salt often find that the villages are what they talk about afterwards,” said the Namak team. “We suggest at least two nights, so there is time for a sunrise, an unhurried day with the artisans, and a quiet evening back at camp.”

Namak’s interiors draw on that same craft heritage, with patterned canvas, dark timber and warm textiles. Evenings bring dinner and a cultural programme of Kutchi music.

There are three ways to stay. Rates are per tent, per night, for two guests:

  • Premium Tent (ten tents, 392 sq ft): from ₹8,500 + GST, including breakfast, hi-tea and dinner.
  • Super Premium Tent (ten tents, 520 sq ft): ₹10,500 + GST, with the same inclusions.
  • Darbari Suite (one suite, 1,200 sq ft): ₹28,000 + GST, with all meals, priority check-in, and pickup, drop-off, sightseeing and transfers as per the confirmed itinerary.

Surcharges apply on full-moon nights and during the festive week. The nearest gateway is Bhuj, about 80 to 85 km to the south, with domestic flights and rail links. The White Rann lies in a notified border area, so visitors need an entry permit and should carry their passport.

Reservations are handled directly by phone, WhatsApp or email. Details of the tents and the season are available at https://namakrannofkutch.com.
